My cat keeps going in the same room at the same time of night and meowing

He is doing it now, sat in the room the other side of the house from where we are sitting and just meowing at nothing. Always does this about half nine - ten at night and has been doing same for weeks. Is he just a bit nuts? Confused

Spooky.. Ghost???

my cat does that. She'll just start meowing for some unknown reason even if noone is near.
Is your cat black?

Black cats are mad!

It has crossed my mind wonka. He has stopped now (until same time tomorrow anyway) but he was in there making a fuss for about half hour. During that time I got up and called him to me and he came over for a fuss but then when back to doing same. I then picked him up a couple time and brought him into the same room as us but he kept going back.

Which room?

Mine used to sit under the toilet and meow. I think it was the noise in the pipes??? Otherwise, ghost, deffo!

No fruitshoot not black, he's tabby and white.
My other cat is black and is indeed mad but more that she chases her tail round and round and 'hunts' lego bricks!

What has changed?
Sometimes this is because of 'mourning' the change .

cupofcoffee · 09/09/2010 23:04

No pipes in there loopy (apart from heating which is not on). Its just a small room with a sofa and TV and some of kids toys. Everything in there is turned off.

SrStanislaus no changes to furniture set up or anything like that. Not moved house since we had him. He was a stray who moved in almost 2 years ago. The only change is that I have lost 2 of my older cats fairly recently, one in June and the other about 6 weeks before that. The 2 cats I lost were close to each other but this cat wanted to be the boss as soon as he moved in and used to fight with one of the other cats all the time.

he can perhaps hear one of your neighbours doing something that you can't hear?

cupofcoffee · 09/09/2010 23:17

I live in a detatched house colditz, on the end of a row and the room he is going in is not next to another house. I suppose it could be something on the road but I never see anyone about when I look out the window at these times. It's a very quite road that only leads to these houses and nowhere else so hardly any traffic.
