Toilet training puppy

We have a puppy who we've been trying to train. The problem we have is, we take her for a walk, or let her out in the garden, then when she wants to go to the toilet, she goes inside.
Have tried extending the walk, or keeping her outside (within reason) to see if she will go and she doesnt.
Not quite sure where to go from here. We are new to this!

Covers this problem, our puppy now housetrained thanks to this mumsnetters advice. Basically, we say word 'Bingo' every time puppy wees or poos outside, and immediately treat. If happens inside we ignore puppy completely, just clear up.

I think the trick is to catch her doing a wee outside and go potty with rewarding and fussing her.

I tell my 11 week old springer 'go toilet' and he does! Well, he does if he hasn't just done a wee in the hall like just now!

He has done 5 wees in the house in 3 days. Not too bad, but they have all been today on day 3. We'll get there, eventually.
