Please someone calm me down. My pugs are like children to me.

My 10yr old rescue female has just come into season for the first time since being with me (Ive had her 5 months). She has been having bleeds, and for the first time ever, our male neutered pug has been humping her.

Ive just noticed while playing with her that she has a lump about the size of a small plum (so quite huge!) on her right side down by her last nipple iyswim? I can almost get my fingers around it, and its the consistancy of a firm grape!

Ive written her off as cancer and all sorts of nasties, please someone tell me its a swollen ovary etc and normal?

I can't say to you this is definately nothing to worry about, however it is also not a reason to write her off just yet. What you have described could well be a mammary tumour, but a reasonable % of these in dogs are not horrible spreading types especially if removed promptly. Also possible could be a fatty lump, a lymph node, a cyst, an abscess or something else altogether. You need to contact your vet in the morning and get an opinion about it and proceed from there. I know it is hard when you don't have firm answers just yet, but honestly there are reasons why things could well all turn out just fine here.
Good luck with her.

Hi Monkeyfacegrace (love your name!)

I have two dogs9not bitches) who today have each had a lump removed. it seems likely that one will be malignant but I await the histology report.

I had them at the vets yesterday and she operated today. I do feel much less worried now (whatever the report comes back with)- even though tonight I have two groggy dogs with lampshades on their heads crashing into things.

Are you able to get to see a vet soon?
