Our dog is supposed to be going into the vets tomorrow to have some cysts removed, but she's has come on heat today - are there any implications?

As the title says really.

She is due to go in at 8.30 and will be anesthetized for the procedure - I'm just wondering whether the procedure can go ahead if she's on heat?

I've not idea why it shouldn't btw. Maybe I'm just over thinking it?

Unlikely to be any reason medically for it not to go ahead, but your vet may not be too keen to have a bitch in heat at the surgery driving the male dogs mad. I suggest you follow the procedure for starving etc and turn up at the correct time, but leave her in the car until you advise them that she is in heat and see what they would like to do from there.

Thanks beautifulgirls!

I rang them this morning before we were due to set off. I explained the situation and they said exactly what you predicted - no medical reason but as there's no emergency they'd rather not have a bitch in season in the surgery driving all the dogs mad.

We have to re-book when her season is finished.

Thanks Smile
