URGENT HELP please - can not find my kitten :(

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 16:24

I have a 17 week old kitten, she has not been chipped or spayed yet, but has had her first round of injections.

I have been keeping her indoors until she gets chipped and spayed and she has never been outside unles I've been with her.

Anyway, I last saw her at 11pm last night in the house but I haven't seen her since. I've looked all over the house and I can not see her, more importantly I can not hear her either.

I'm assuming because of this she must be outside, there is a tiny chance she may have jumped through a window on the first floor (at front of house) but to me it doesn't look like it was open enough?

I've rang local vets and the RSPCA, knocked on my neighbours doors and stuck about 250 flyers through the doors further down the street. I've been in the front and back garden calling her since 8am but can not see or hear her.

I'm worried sick. Can anyone think of other places she might be or how I can encourage her to find her way home or how I can find her if she is hurt somewhere.

We have a lot of foxes in this area so I'm so worried!

Please help Sad

She can't be inside the duvet cover as I slept in the bed last night and she wasn't there. But I will go and check now. No tall lamps either.

Bathroom cabinets/tops of wardrobes/hidden corners of garage?
Any chance you can get out and have a quick look for her before it gets too dark? Trees, bushes, undergrowth?
Shake her biscuits/food and call her name the whole time (I have done this on many an occasion). Don't know how small the window gap was but would she have had to do a big jump down from there?

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 18:29

Just popping out to the woods again!

Have you checked your toilets?

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 20:07

Yup I hd checked my toilet.

But good news, I found her! The house opposite and up a bit from me found her in their back garden and I had put a flyer through their door saying she wa slost and they called me.

When I got there she was climbing up their curtains and eating their cat food Confused

I was worried sick! Thanks again everyone.

thecatatemygymsuit · 06/08/2010 20:26

Hoorah, brilliant news! Am so relieved and can stop stalking your thread now Smile.
Look after the little silly!

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 20:27

I know I couldn't stop saying Thank You to the people who found her. I was so worried a fox had hurt her. She's never going out ever again Grin. Or at the least I'm fitting a tracking device!

Oh, so pleased for you! Give her lots of cuddles and yourself some TLC!(not the yoghurt drink...)Grin

(Wiggly, how awful for you, Sad)

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 06/08/2010 20:58

You need to put a pic up of her Smile

I may be wrong here but I think it's quite rare for a fox to attack a cat. My older cat stayed at my parents house on a farm with me for a year before I moved here- she played with the foxes in the field next to the house. She was only 2 then and really small.

We have an urban fox that patrols our cul-de-sac every night- 7 cats in our small street and never any problems.

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 22:02

scrab806ble - I've had a glass of red one and after the awfulness of today it has made me really tired!

TheInvisibleManDidIt - I think they will attack smaller cats if they are hungry enough. I stupidly googled earlier mainly in the hope to reassure myself she was fine.

Here are some pictures:

awwwww so cute

so tiny here

Northernlurker · 06/08/2010 22:21

Have read this thread holding my breath. So pleased you got her back. Smile

simpson · 06/08/2010 22:25

so glad you found her

Do you know how she got out?

I started a thread similar recently as my 9wk old kitties had gone awol too but I eventually found them asleep tucked under the pile spuds/onions etc Hmm Shock

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 22:27

She's asleep on my lap at the moment, having some crazy dream by the sounds of it. Can't stop smiling now - going to get her a giant bell! and maybe a tracking device?

Glad you found her! Smile I found my kitten inside the swing-bin once- she must have jumped up and gone straight through!

navyeyelasH · 06/08/2010 22:35

simpson - I'm not 100% sure how she got out but there are 2 ways in which she could have that are unlikely but not impossible.

I moved my car at about 9pm onto my drive, I was careful not to let her out and I'm 99% sure I saw her after I had moved the car but I'm not certain.

My bedroom window was open a tiny amount, so she may have gone through there. Although it was open so so slightly I don't see how she could have got her head through?

Glad you found your in the end - they are crazy little things aren't they!?

A friend who has a kitten about the same age as yours lost hers for a bit through an open bedroom window Shock

Glad you have found her, its amazing how quickly they become part of the family!!

teameric · 06/08/2010 22:46

She is so cute!! so glad you finally found her must be a huge relief! Smile

Ilythia · 06/08/2010 23:22

She's cute! Kittens are buggers for hiding though, ours once managed to get inside a large pan which had had the lid stored on top upside down, she must have got the balance wrong and it had tipped her inside and then the lid shut on her.

Ruined a good non-stick pan that!

BollockBrain · 07/08/2010 08:38

brilliant. i was wondering all night how you were getting on in your lost kitten quest but couldn't get to a computer to find out.

So pleased for you! Smile

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 07/08/2010 09:05

She's so cute. Smile

thecatatemygymsuit · 07/08/2010 09:15

That is one seriously gorgeous kitten. Phew!

BelleDameSansMerci · 07/08/2010 09:16

I'm so glad you found her... I couldn't bring myself to even read this thread yesterday Blush but plucked up the courage this morning in the hope that you'd found her. So happy for you.

navyeyelasH · 07/08/2010 09:53

Thanks everyone, she is cute isn't she. Another worry was that someone could have pinched her. She's right as rain today and doesn't seem to have come to any harm.

She's 100% more ninja than she normally is though!
