rabbit with lump update

my rabbit has a lump on her jaw - vet advised treating with anti-biotics and not operating due to rabbits age and nature of condition

they have told me to come back as soon as there are any changes in rabbits poo or eating habits (i suppose to put her down)

i really don't know what to do at the moment - she seems to stay inside her cage alot and not come out during the day - but could that be because of the hot weather?

she does eat still too - i don't want her to suffer but also don't want to do the inevitable.

sorry for waffling am worried.

Sounds like she may have an abscess there - very difficult to treat in rabbits, but not impossible. How old is the rabbit?

Perhaps you could consider getting a second opinion if you think maybe you would like to try treatment such as surgery? It does not mean that is the right thing to do, but if you had a further opinion about things it might give you the peace of mind to know whatever decisions you do make you have done the best for the rabbit.

my rabbit had a lump on its jaw and it was an abcess.
i'd take her back to the vet and ask for it to be checked again and ask about abcesses. mine had then run through to the teeth and he had to have a tooth out as well

our rabbit was operated on at 13 weeks of age and needed antibiotics for what seemed ages, but completely recovered and is now absolutely fine. But we were told not to give her rabbit snacks (sometimes contain sharp grasses) and only timothy hay and rabbit nuggets.
