Hills T/D?

My vet says we should try our cat on Hills T/D because she has some tartar on her back teeth.
Has anyone had experience with it? Is it the same as Hills oral care?
And most of all will it make any difference?

I would doubt it very much. A good site to comapre dog foods is dogfoodanalysis.com

run by a number of people and peer reviews always done.
Some people use plaque off, personally I always give my dogs large bones, but you do need to be careful with older dogs.

Ok-do you know if there is a comparable site for cat food?(have tried googling to no avail)

The only good site I knoe for cats is www.facats.org

I gave the other link because Hills do a comparable T/D food for dogs. Sorry I should have said and also meant to say give my cats a raw chicken wing eack week to keep teeth clean

Hills t/d differs from other types of standard biscuit in that the biscuit does not shatter as easily, rather collapsing around the teeth for longer (and therefore teeth deeper in) before finally shattering. In doing this it helps the cleaning of the teeth as the pet chews. The kibble size is slightly larger than standard biscuits so the pets have to chew more to eat it too. It is however unlikely to actually remove tartar from teeth as this is a hard substance. What it will do is help reduce plaque on the teeth and consquently reduce the rate of further tartar build up.

Hope that helps.

Thankyou beautifulgirls I can't be sure if she said tartar or plaque lets hope it was plaque? She's only a youngish cat.

Has anyone actually fed this to their cat and seen an improvement?
