WTF is wrong with people??????

bubblerock · 26/07/2010 14:32

I foster kittens and pregnant cats, last night I had 7 kittens and 2 pg cats in my care.

What I am so angry about (other than the fact that numpties don't neuter their cats) is the one mum I have only has 3 legs - both back legs but only one at the front, her stomach is huge and she is really struggling to get around - why the hell would you allow this to happen???

And, do you know what? These cats are the sloppiest most loving cats I have ever seen!

Oh you are a star for looking after them. Some people are just f*ckwits and don't deserve to have pets in their lives if that's how they are treating them.

Thank the lord for people like you though!

Big stokes to the cats and kittens and a big for you

We are on the other side of the coin, bubblerock. Our cat was hit by the postman when she was pregnant and had to have her leg amputated. The vet did not abort the kittens as he felt that she would lose them anyway plus she had a fractured pelvis.

She gave birth to three kittens and is fully recovered now but it was awful to see her trying to lumber about with three legs and a huge belly.

gardenpixie · 31/07/2010 10:39

Swans that's awful for her and you! I hope she is doing fine now

SwansEatQuince · 31/07/2010 10:58

She is amazing and has recovered remarkably well.
The kittens are fully weaned and our cat is able to go out hunting but she does not go far from the house.

We had neutered the two tom cats but a stray had appeared (he must have roamed for miles) and caught my little cat.

BuzzingNoise · 31/07/2010 11:02

It really angers me that people don't neuter their pets.

bubblerock · 02/08/2010 20:44

Sorry, no one answered for ages so I forgot I'd posted! Swans that is awful, your poor cat Glad she managed okay, the 3 legged mum is just getting bigger and bigger, she looks like a seal lying down!

The other Mum (twiggy) had her kittens early yesterday morning (photo on profile) two very tiny ones didn't make it but she has 3 very chubby healthy ones and is being a fantastic Mum, it's amazing she completely trusts us and she hardly knows us - she woke DH up by batting his head and meowing to let him know she was in labour!

Will let you know when 3 legged Mum (Jess) has hers.

Oh wow, your family, furry and unfurry, are beautiful, bubblerock.

bubblerock · 02/08/2010 22:28

Ha! That's because there are none of me and DH on there!! Just noticed I'm down as 31 on my profile but I'm 34 oops, may just ignore that, lol

Do you foster dogs? I think I would become too attached, cats are hard enough!!

bubblerock · 12/08/2010 19:14

Okay - I think I've managed to get the photo's viewable HERE The Mums are now managing the 8 kittens together and the kittens don't seem to care who the nipple belongs to!! lol Grin

If you know anyone in the Lancs area that could rehome any of these please let me know. Cheers xx

Bless!!

I shouldn't keep looking at this thread DP would kill me if I volunteered to foster cats. I SO would though.

bubblerock · 12/08/2010 20:03

My DH wasn't too chuffed when I said I was going to but he's such a softy - the first thing he does when he comes in is checks on them all and says 'hi guys, how's it all going' and he wouldn't go to bed until he'd seen Jess's first born - he loves it as much as I do (he wouldn't admit it though Wink) Honestly, if you can do it just contact your local charity, it's so much better for the cats/kittens to be in a real home and it's a great experience for the children. I want to second everything you've said, Bubblerock. We foster cats/kittens too, in London, and the shelter is full to bursting - they always need more help but particularly now. We're on cat #28 (over about 2.5 years, with some kitten litters bumping those numbers up) and we wouldn't be without them.

bubblerock · 13/08/2010 11:49

Aww, hello fellow foster Mummy!! It's so rewarding isn't it? I just can't believe how completely trusting these cats become considering their backgrounds. I just wish I could do more Sad

If anyone does want to help their local rescue centre check HERE Smile

my dd would love one shes 18 but live too far away :( also the ginger/white etc looks very much like my cat :)

AlicesWonderland · 13/08/2010 12:08

Ooooh I want one but we are in Yorkshire Sad

can you still do the foster thing if you hve young kids and cats already?

bubblerock · 13/08/2010 14:21

Yep, as long as it doesn't upset your cats it should be fine, you can usually specify whether you can take in kittens or pregnant mums. I know the other foster carer just takes kittens because she has a cat and a great dane!! lol. Definitely worth looking into Alice Smile
