Poor old flopsy hates the sun. I was rather worried about her early in the week as just seemed so down and not herself. she was spending all the time in her hiutch and not coming out.

Now its been cooler the last couple of days she has been back to bounding about, and is def more cheerful. she even had a good sniff at the pups today through her run fencing.

Mine are quiet and laying around splayed out on the cooler concrete part of the run. In the shade all day but busier at dawn and dusk. keep them nice and shady if you can. clean out loads, keep water in the shade, and they'll be fine. 'Tis a shit time of year to be wearing a fur coat, no?

have been chucking a blanket or towel over the run to give extra shade and moved her food and water to a shadier part as well.

couple of times dd3 (5yrs old) came in saying 'mummy i think flopsy is dead!' i went out, and flops just poked her head up as if to say'nope not dead, just too damned hot'

They are both totally chilled out..sprawled out in their hutch in the shade during the day, sleeping and drinking a lot of water and then playing in their run in the evening. Moulting a lot too. If we let them run around the garden then they both love going into their burrow but its a bit of a farce getting them out...

i kow she probably only has a couple more summers left. but am so paranoid of losing her. she might be a grumpy old moo, but is my bunny.

is anyone else paranoid about fly strike as well?

A little tip for all of you with bunnies. When we used to breed and show ours in hot weather like we have been having, there was a couple of tricks we used to use to keep the rabbit cool.

One was butting a frozen bottle of water in there hutches about 10am for them they love laying against them and playing with them. When the waters melted and warned up you can remove it.

Another tip was if you have any spare ceramic tiles you can put that in the hutch as they stay cool aswell, hth

oh thanks for those tips.
