Dwarf Hamster Cyst?

Looks like one of our DHs has a cyst.

It´s come up really quickly-didn´t notice anything yesterday.

Seems fine in itself-alert, OK being handled.

Can the vet do anything or will the trying to do something mean the end of Hammy?

where is the cyst? just asking cos we had a hamster that suddenly started storing food in mouth pouches and not getting rid of it making it like it had a lump. paid nearly £50 to have the vet knock it out and clean out its pouches for it to die the next evening as its little body could not handled the stress of it all!!!

Near the back legs.

We´ll have to go to the vet tomorrow-was closed today by the time we noticed it.

Yes I know it sounds heartless-and I don´t want the poor thing to be in pain, but I also don´t want to risk it dying at the vet´s hands if it can live with what it´s got.

It´s a couple of years old also.
(And we have 2 more)

Sorry I sound a bitch, but I don´t want to pay out unnecessarily & I know that anaesthetising things so small is very hit & miss.

Well she´s been to vet & had it removed-don´t know what caused it though-it was a cyst.

Only had a local so fingers crossed!

Is it possible just to be prone to them or is there usually a cause?
