Does anyone know what shots a dog needs to travel in France?

I don't live in UK so there would be no ferry/border control involved. We are considering a very last minute week in France and taking Phoebe with us but she has just had all the usual puppy shots (she is almost 6 months). We will be looking into rabies vaccinations so she could travel to England next year but this is a very spur of the moment idea. Does anyone know if there are specific diseases we would have to vaccinate against which differ from our home country (Holland)?

I am just musing and obviously will call in at the vets if we def decide to go.

TIA

No idea from Holland to France but I do know the rabies vaccination has to be done over 6 months before you travel.

I guess the local vets will know - let us know it would be interesting to find out!

thanks minimu - I know the rabies vaccine has to be given 6 months before. A couple of my friends have been caught out by this in the past! I wouldn't be taking my dog to UK before next summer anyway but we are just talking about a tentative week away very soon and of course there is no way on earth I would get a place at a good kennels at such short notice.

Will let you know once I find out - have asked on Facebook too as am sure someone will know

To travel within the EU (but not UK and Ireland) you are required to have had a rabies injection not less than 28 days prior to travel and have a passport without the blood test to travel with this to prove the injection.
So parts of France (particularly the south) have problems with heartworm, erlichia, borrelia so I would use a tick treatment that repels the ticks like advantix or scalibor and use a product that is prophylatic for heart worm on the advice of your vet. There was rabies in south west France at the back end of last year and around 3 people were bitten.
