Absolutely Heartbroken

I've had to put my dog to sleep tonight.

I've had him since I was 12 and Im 25 now. I found him as a pup, on a bridge, where a horrible man was going to drown him as he didnt want him. I am absolutely devastated. He should have died from old age, instead he was mauled by other dogs. I dont even know why Im posting.

Oh jeez, I'm so sorry. I don't even know you but I'm very close to tears for you.

I wish I could take it all away as I can imagine, I think, how you must feel. I can only offer my sympathy and a huge unMN-ly hug.

I hope that the fact that you saved your dog and gave him 13 years of love and a life he would have lost were it not for you, will comfort you, as will fond memories.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog and what happened to him.

Please try to take some comfort that you gave him 13 years that he would not have had if you had not been on the bridge that night.

When one of my dogs died before her time due to the carelessness of a "friend" I was beside myself and found great comfort in speaking to a pet bereavement befriender just had a quick look on the net and found this www.supportline.org.uk/problems/bereavement_pets.php

I am so sorry to hear about your dog.
Losing a dog at any age is hard, but to lose them before their time is really hard.

My old dog was attacked by another dog, but thankfully he survived after numerous operations. I know your dog was not as lucky as mine at the time, but I have experienced a similiar situation so have can totally sympathise with what you have experiences. If you do want to talk, please do post/email.

I am so sorry for your loss, what a truly horrible way to lose a much loved pet, friend and family member.

I know it won't be much, if any, comfort to you at the moment that you gave him 13 wonderful years, but you one day you will think of him and smile.

I never thought we'd get over the loss of our girl after the person who was dogsitting failed to notice she had escaped and she was hit by a car, but now we are able to talk about her and smile. The happy memories are still there. It will come, but in the meantime, be kind to yourself and take care. x
