We are looking at getting a dog early next year, i have always wanted a Chiauhauh but after much research i have come to the heartbreaking conclusion that its not a good idea whi a particuarly energetic and clumsy DS2, i wouldnt be able to be sure he wouldnt want to 'play' with it and end up hurting it and what with Chis soft skulls it wouldnt be good.

I do want a toy/small dog though, im really fond of a Pug i know so have looked a little bit into them.

Does anyone have any breed suggestions?

Rest assured i will be researching a lot into whichever breed i choose and finding a reliable breeder and discussing it with my vet first!

Some terrier breeds can be good with little ones, but it's dependent on the dog's temperament. We've got a Patterdale terrier who is fantastic, very tolerant with clumsy kids. (We got her from Dogs' Trust, rather than a breeder; they thoroughly check dogs to ensure they're suitable to live with kids.)

border terrier (I did a lot of research and thats the conclusion I came to), they are very energetic, playful, intelligent easy to train (so far) good wioth kids, and really really cute (see profile for evidence of this last fact) if you google there are a few sites that go through your situation and recommend the best breed.

my friend has 2 pugs and they are lovely, great with her 2 little ones and quick on their feet if the kids get too much!
