Don't be fooled by the "putting children first" wording. There's already kids in mainstream classes who should not be there and Phillipson wants to send more children into mainstream.

This would be bad for everyone's children. It's bad for the disabled children who don't thrive in mainstream because they don't learn properly. It's bad for the other children because an overstimulated autistic child having a meltdown disrupts their learning.

Petition signed. Very important to fight this.

The current system is 100% fit for purpose if parents are just listened to. Save £160 million a year by not fighting in tribunal.

We have an ECHP in place and child is thriving but because school and to some degree GP wouldn’t help it cost us £10k to get there. But the ECHP placement has changed our lives and I just wish that option was available to other parents without funds to do it.

Quoting another poster on another thread: There will be no alternative to mainstream for most SEND children. The ONLY thing that persuades the LA to provide support is the legal enforcement of a hard-won EHCP. This right is being removed in the current reforms.

My LA loses 97% of SEND tribunals. The needs of the children within that 97% will not go away, but they will be expected to be met in mainstream.

Phillipson will scrap the right to take the LA to tribunal. This is an appalling infringement on children's right to education.
