Please read and sign my petition for my little boy

Hi everyone,

I’m really hoping to raise awareness and get some support for my 6-year-old son, River. He’s a bright, funny, and creative little boy who loves art and building things — but the education system has been failing him since reception.

Despite having clear additional needs, he’s still waiting for autism and ADHD assessments, and instead of getting help, he’s been suspended, put on a 45-minute timetable, and left without proper support. We’ve had to fight every step of the way — from applying for his EHCP ourselves to chasing the local authority after they made errors that delayed his placement even more.

Right now, River still doesn’t have a school place. He’s missing out on learning, therapy, and being around other children — and it’s heartbreaking. This isn’t just about him; too many SEN children, especially from minority backgrounds, are being failed by the system.

I’ve started a petition calling on the Department for Education to fix this broken process and make sure every SEN child gets the support they deserve. Please take a moment to read, sign, and share if you can — it would mean the world to us 💙

Signed. I hear you. It's fucking appalling that SEN children are being failed education because they are different.

Best of luck with the ehcp. We are now trying to find a willing SEN school.. which is difficult all the while he is detested by undertrained staff at his MS.

Thankyou so much it means a lot❤️ He has an EHCP but they put some wrong information on it. Instead of the local authority just correcting it we have to wait to go to tribunal which is dated for next august. It’s disgusting I hope everything works out for you and you’re little one too❤️❤️ xx

I am so angry for us all

But what a wonderful parent he has in you. Advocating for him. Not giving up. Showing him love and his worth.

My son tells me he doesn't want to be this way and it's so hard to help without ALL the scaffolding in place.

But we do our best as parents.

If DS is not in full-time school, have you requested an expedited hearing?

Is there anything named in section I? Is it that you don’t agree with the placement named, or is it that it is blank or only has a type of placement?

In the meantime, have you requested alternative provision? The LA still has a duty to ensure DS receives a suitable full-time education and anything detailed specified and quantified in F.
