How can companies be made to sell their much wanted product at a lower rate? It's not worked for the essential utility companies?

If a petition against price rises was likely to work, I can think of quite a few items I would be prepared to sign on the line for ahead of this

Do the department of health and social care and NICE have any control over the pricing?

This is a private company increasing the price of its drugs - I don’t think NICE has anything to do with it. The price rise doesn’t affect the price the NHS pays as that’s negotiated separately so I don’t think this price rise is anything the government can do anything about.

The companies have developed a product that has huge demand. Of course they'll sell it for as much as they can get for it. That's how capitalism works.

As the sensible few have said on the big thread, the list price is higher than what the NHS will pay.

What should have been published to keep the calm is an idea of the prices for the self pay sector

These prices could be below list prices too if Eli does the right thing rather than put the pressure and responsibility on wholesalers and pharmacies. Shame on all of them!
