Petition challenging UN Women on gender identity ideology

I’m not that keen on petitions but please read this superb statement from women’s organisations around the world. It exposes and denounces in detail the gross betrayal of women by the organisation still fancifully calling itself UN Women.

It says: We repudiate the statement published by UN Women, which refers to groups and organizations that are critical of the ideological conception of “gender identity” as “anti-rights” groups, labelling all dissent as dangerous, “far-right” and propagating “hate speech” against the “LGBTQI+ community”.

It continues:

  • The ideological notion of “gender identity” is antithetical to diversity. It cements harmful and misogynistic stereotypes for women and men, girls and boys, that women’s rights organizations have been fighting for decades. Gender identity ideology celebrates men for ‘performing’ womanhood, an insult to women globally. Gender identity ideology pushes lesbian and gay teenagers to attempt “sex-change” surgeries, rather than celebrating their sexual orientation. This is the opposite of a human rights stance;
  • LGBTQI force-teams lesbians and gays with a group who are not gay. Gender identity ideology erases lesbians by pushing them to accept men as sexual partners. There is no ‘community’ in forcing people to accept heterosexuals who want to pretend to be someone they aren’t;
  • The false appeal to health care, with references to the reproductive health of women and people with differences in sexual development (“intersex”), actually covers up the violation of the ethics of care, the promotion of hatred towards one’s own body, the submission to physical alterations carried out by a pharmaceutical and medical industry guided by profit and a lack of commitment to well-being and self-acceptance.

Excellent letter. Signed.

Now awaiting the usual women scolders to descend on here and whine that one of the organisations / signatories doesn't comply with the required political views. 🙄

Quite. I thought it was interesting that Sex Matters didn’t appear to be among the signatories. I can imagine that there are perfectly reasonable explanations (August?) but hope there’s no sinister one.

Separately, I do feel that the discussion on gender identity sometimes misses the international element. We in the UK know a lot about the US, and a bit about Australia (probably for obvious reasons ie English). But it was cheering to see quite how many international organisations had signed this petition, and that they existed.

I would be fascinated to know, for example, what’s happened in Spain since self ID, and to follow the fight-back against self-ID in Germany. And elsewhere.

I see this has been shifted ontom the petitions board? Might be worth a carefully worded thread on FWR so that women know it's over here.

I don't believe any groups of women anywhere in the world campaigned for men to intrude into our showers, changing rooms, sports, hospital wards etc, let alone for children to be sterilised and physically damaged in the mistaken belief they can change sex so am pleased to see the international dimension.

Sadly anonymously which is unusual for me. But I am moving work sector to a sector which is more captured than my current one. So I need to see once I am in what changes I can make.
