It is a little known fact that if a parent is convicted of child sex offences, they still retain all of their rights as a parent. This is the case even if they abuse their own children. It is usually up to the mother to go to family court and fight to protect their children from the offender. This costs on average £50k and the offender will often make repeat applications to family court continuing to control the family and mothers trying to protect - because the current law allows them to. We are trying to change this to protect children and those who care for them.
There have been suggested amendments to Jade's Law to stop convicted child sex offenders having parental responsibility over their victims.
