Asking for more financial support for bereaved children

Six years ago the government cut the support for widowed parents from up to 20 years to just 18 months.

This decision has never been reviewed as promised and payments haven’t increased with inflation.

This petition is calling for that to change

Also the children of a deceased parent where the parents were divorced. Nothing whatsoever.

Terrible. It needs to be a benefit focused on the bereaved children, not the surviving parent.

This is unjust, there was no acknowledgement of the lone parent status and all that encompasses or the ongoing extra needs of the remaining parent and children.
