Noah Donohoe: the latest news is very bad

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 28/07/2022 14:47

Many Mumsnetters will have already seen and kindly supported my threads and those of others about the disappearance and death of young Noah Donohoe in Belfast in June 2020. For those who haven't, Noah's naked body was retrieved from a drain after he had been missing for 6 days. Two years later, his grieving mother Fiona, with her sister Niamh at her side, is still having to fight for the truth about her adored son's disappearance and death and for justice for him.

Yesterday, Fiona was given official notice by the government/NIO that a Public Interest Immunity Certificate has been granted. It was signed by the new Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire. This means that the police/PSNI are allowed to keep hundreds of pages of information from their botched investigation into the disappearance and death of this innocent and precious child secret. It was received by the police/PSNI and Crown Solicitors Office on the 19th July and his mother was not told for over a week.

Mr Vara was appointed after Brandon Lewis resigned from Boris Johnson's cabinet. He has only been in his post as NI Secretary for two weeks. This is not a good start. Signing the PII Certificate so swiftly indicates to me that he has not taken due time and care to learn all the facts in Noah's case. I think anyone who concludes from this that Mr Vara is just a government and police puppet could be forgiven.

For those Mumsnetters not in Northern Ireland who believe that PII Certificates don't concern you, a PII Certificate application from the police/PSNI protected Robert Howard, a known prolific and violent child killer and rapist. It allowed him to travel to England, Scotland and Ireland. He was only brought to justice when he raped and killed a child in Kent. This is only one example of many.

If you are not outraged, then you have not been paying attention. What can you do? Please think about this and do what you can. Please join us in raising awareness about Noah on social media, with your own government representatives and mainstream media. If you want to contact Shailesh Vara directly about Noah's case:

Here is Fiona's podcast:

Here is a Channel 4 News report: www.channel4.com/news/noah-donohoe-family-seek-answers-over-belfast-teenagers-death And please, if you haven't already, do still join the 309,146 people who have showed they care by signing Fiona's petition. Thank you sincerely for reading and for your support. 💙

TLDR:
As Marion Wright Edelman said, if we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much. Shame on you, Shailesh Vara. AIBU?

The only protests happening are those supporting Noah's family, supporters are from both sides of the community.

This is a fight for the future too, protecting the next family was face obstacles in the fight for the truth.

PII has no place in society whatsoever when it comes to an innocent DC’s suspicious death.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 17:25

"The time for keeping quiet and trusting the police and coroner is over, and that is of their own making"
Does that justify subjudice posts, if you wish to commit a crime that's up to you but be careful of what you lead others into.
The inquest is not completed and posts should not be speculating on what happened to this child.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 17:27

It's always been made clear that all evidence will be made available to the coroner in his investigation.

Nobody is speculating. All the the information on this post is freely available from multiple sources.
Rather than continue to attempt to derail the thread perhaps you should take some time and actually read the evidence and information on this post and elsewhere online.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 17:31

I'm very familiar with this sad case unfortunately. Just because other people commit a crime doesn't mean you should. Many of the multiple sources are also subjudice. Let the coroner do his work, there's plenty of avenues to complain about the police after the inquest if that's necessary.

Nobody on this thread is commuting a crime.

There is very good reason to believe that this will continue to be covered up. This cannot be allowed to happen.

I strongly suggest you leave this thread. I for one will no longer respond to you.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 17:38

Posting subjudice statements is a crime, simple.
This entire thread should have that caveat attached to it.

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 17:46

Yes, I thought Googlersanonymous was here to shut people up, and indeed they are, including Noah's mother and auntie. It's a no, I'm afraid - from them and from me.

Other posters on the thread have their own brains. I do not have to lead them anywhere. They are fully capable of making up their own minds from the facts and information available to them, including the application and granting of a PII Certificate. Please, don't insult their intelligence, or mine.

The coroner has lost the trust of Noah's family and supporters.

OP posts:
exnewwifeproblems · 01/08/2022 17:49

I agree with @Googlersanonymous I think people posting on this thread should be mindful that the case is sub judice. No one wants to prejudice the inquest, surely?

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 17:55

You seem very familiar, Googlersanonymous - do you mind me asking,* *are you new to the thread and to MN or have you changed your name?

"The coroner has lost the trust of Noah's family and supporters"
It's the law of the land and you may not like it but that doesn't change the situation.
Allow the coroner to do their work. People's hearts go out to the family in this case but the normal legal proceedings have to prevail.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 17:59

"You seem very familiar, Googlersanonymous - do you mind me asking, are you new to the thread and to MN or have you changed your name?"
Totally irrelevant whether I have or not but I've made my point. Do you not wish to address the subjudice issue

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 18:12

It's relevant to MN Talk Guidelines, the spirit of the site and the spirit of the thread. Do you not want to answer, Googlersanonymous?

OP posts:
MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 18:24

Let's hear from Fiona Donohoe* *shall we, before moving on from the latest derailments, distractions and whataboutery. Let her answer this point.

Fiona:
'The only people investigating this case are Noah's legal team and mother and aunt, so NO ONE SHOULD KEEP QUIET. IF WE KEPT QUIET THE CORRUPT SYSTEM WOULD ONCE AGAIN GET AWAY WITH INCOMPETENCE.'

I have to be honest. I have shared on Facebook, I've signed the petition but there's no way I'd ever go to a protest organised by Sinn Fein and I think it's possibly been unwise to let a political party take the lead on this.

Googlersanonymous · 01/08/2022 18:26

I really question what the spirit of the thread is but I'm not prepared to assist you in keeping the thread active. You're obviously not prepared to engage re subjudice statements and that's really all I'm concerned about.

100%!

Sinn Féin and definitely people like Gerry Kelly should be nowhere near the campaign for Noah Donohoe. I doubt many in the thread are aware of his criminal record as well. Sinn Féin’s own record on Human Rights is abysmal.

Allowing Sinn Féin to take the public lead on this is very likely to erode support from both sides of the divide. Sinn Féin are still a very divisive party.

Keep the focus on Noah Donohoe by all means, but keep political parties well away from it. Especially one like SF/PIRA.

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 18:47

Thank you for what you have done, exnewwifeproblems

I can assure you that no political party is taking the lead. It was your choice of course not to attend the protest earlier today against the PII certificate, which united all different members of the community. There are protests you could still attend organised by others.

Fiona, Niamh and their legal team are the only ones leading. They welcome support from across the spectrum of politics and none.

OP posts:
exnewwifeproblems · 01/08/2022 18:52

The protest was organised by SF. I saw the posts. That's incredibly divisive.

I won't go to any protests now (I did go to one outside city hall months ago) but I won't go again because SFIRA murdered innocent people during the Troubles and to see them hypocritically standing up there using the death of a child to score political points turns my stomach. And be under no illusions. That's what it is. They're manipulating this.

It's a mistake to align with them. A big big mistake.

exnewwifeproblems · 01/08/2022 18:54

By letting SF organise this protest in her name Fiona has aligned herself with one political group. And that is a mistake in my opinion. Because she genuinely did have support across the communities but from what I'm hearing tonight from friends a lot of Protestants feel like I do.

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 18:54

MNettersForNoahAndFiona · 01/08/2022 11:32

From Niamh Donohoe: Tonight at 7pm outside Strabane PSNI station Cllr Paul Gallagher & Cllr Raymond Barr have arranged a protest.
Please🙏now more than ever we need your feet on the street. Fight this abuse of power, for Noah, for your children.
Noah's life mattered, all children's lives matter💙⚡🙏

Just time for some people to get to this. Councillor Barr is an Independent, who sadly lost his own sister.

DownNative · 01/08/2022 18:58

For Great Britain residents, it's 100% SF/PIRA organised today's protests regarding the PII in Noah Donohoe's death.

GB has a long history of not touching anything SF/PIRA have their hands on, so it's a poor judgement to allow them anywhere near it.

People from both sides of the divide won't have been at a SF/PIRA organised protest. For good reason since SF/PIRA still justify their terrorism in Northern Ireland and England.

Once again, I urge all involved to ensure SF/PIRA are out of the picture in this serious matter 100%.

From Niamh Donohoe: 'There are rallies happening on various locations across NI tonight. If you check our official Facebook group MyNoah Donohoe you will see times & locations. If people can't attend and wish to support, you could go and stand outside your local PSNI station or Government building.'

Please check Facebook official account MyNoah Donohoe for other independent protests tonight across NI for Noah against the PII certificate.

For clarity, that is one protest, singular @DownNative
