This petition has closed now.
It only got picked up and noticed very recently after which it gained a lot of signatures in just a few weeks.

There are enough at over 10,000 to get a response from the Government, even if it is a shame it won’t get the debate in Parliament it might have had if only its present momentum had been sparked a few months ago and it had reached the requisite 100,000.

We have now been waiting 26 days for a govt response to this petition, it looks like we aren't going to get one.

Someone could start a new petition for this.

They will.
The petitions committee will tick them off. Government departments are meant to submit responses to e-petitions within 21 days.
And they will be asked to explain why they have not responded in a timely fashion.
