💙 THREAD 2: Will you spare five minutes to help the lovely Noah Donohoe get the justice he deserves and to support his mummy Fiona in getting the truth about what happened to her beloved son? 💙

My son, Noah Donohoe was an intelligent smart gentle boy. He was 14 years old and he was my only child and my everything.

On 21st June 2020, a bright sunny day, Noah set off on his bike to meet up with his 2 friends but never reached his destination. Instead, Noah was found 6 days later in a storm-drain, naked, in a part of Belfast he did not know.

On the day Noah was found, before Noah was formally identified, the Police did a media release stating that there was ‘No Foul Play’ involved. I ask, if the police are so sure that ‘No Foul Play’ was involved, why are the police now trying to stop me, as Noah’s mummy, getting four files of information on Noah’s investigation?

The Police have applied for a ‘Public Interest Immunity’ certificate, which, if granted, means they can hide four key files in the investigation. Such a certificate is only used in exceptional circumstances and rarely used in the case of a missing child. This certificate has been brought into play in cases where Police intelligence, informers or paramilitaries are involved.

I as Noah’s mummy have, from the very start of Noah being missing, believed that the police did not use all their resources in finding Noah. This was confirmed when it emerged they had not paid anyone overtime while investigating his death. They did little, if any, forensics and any suspects that were brought to their attention were dismissed as not relevant.

I believe that someone harmed my Noah and that there have been serious and repeated failings in the Police investigation of his death. I will never get Justice for Noah if I do not get all the information. These four files are vital for us to get the truth we desperately need, to find out what really happened to my precious son.

I am asking you as the public, some of you as parents, to sign this petition so that Noah gets the justice he truly deserves and to place transparency and accountability where it should rightly be.

This one, no. Maybe because it's fairly new. But, from our experience, it might start to need 5.

I would have liked to start this thread in a busier area like AIBU or Chat, but I knew it would just be moved again. My first thread about the petition was evicted from the busy area of AIBU and moved to the backwater location of Petitions and Activism, where few Mumsnetters go. We soon found that, not always but mostly, it needed 5 posts rapidly together to appear in Active, where more people will see it.

A poster from that thread kindly started a new thread in AIBU with less of a focus on the petition. We faced posters wanting it to be deleted, moved or just posting to derail. As has been said, even a thread about a deceased child is fair game to some. Maybe it's because it's about Noah. Soon, that thread too started to, not always but mostly, need 5 posts close together to get it into Active to be seen more widely.

I don't get the algorithm thing at all. Ipresumed once a thread was posted on that should bring it into active. But after having a quick skin through that thread you linked it looks like that's not the case.

Once you’ve listened to Fiona’s podcast , and read about her struggle to find out what happened to her son, how can you not want to support her in any way you can ?

And especially on a forum that supports parents .

Its a gorgeous photo. I nearly can't bear to look at it my heart is so sore for her. The way she talks about Noah.. the love and grief is su raw. I'm not on twitter so but appreciate the screen shots etc from Fiona and Her sister.

It's unbelievable... I watched the podcast linked in the OP.
Before this thread I wouldn't have believed a 14 year old child could die under these circumstances in the U.K. and it would take his mum having to drum up support on social media for her voice to be heard.
The whole thing stinks.

I can’t begin to tell you how many broken hearted, lovely people that I have met because of Noah. So many decent people are so distressed and absolutely broken over him- and for Fiona. Those six days play over and over in all of our minds. How Fiona is still standing, I do not know. I do know that she will not stop until she has the truth. She has always said she will accept the truth, no matter what it is.

The truth is a difficult thing to get in NI as we know. But we will keep going until the truth is spoken and those responsible for this, and the lies, are held accountable

At the dimming of this day, there are 304,199 people with their arms around Fiona tonight and their eyes on what the PSNI, coroner and the witnesses withholding information do next.
