Please read this petition, I know it's local but it could spread to other areas if unchecked.
The RSPB and Nottinghamshire County Council are joint operators of Sherwood Forest. In recent times, nudists have started walking around here, sometimes in groups of up to 12 men. My wife used to regularly jog around the forest, but stopped when she came across this group of men. The reason this needs to be discouraged, is on the afternoon of the 15th July, my wife, now on a bike, was cycling through Budby Moor when she was confronted by a naked man in the bushes who was 'self gratifying' himself as she went by.

There is a nudists retreat nearby that they can use, away from the public. Instead of discouraging this minority, the RSPB have stated in national newspapers and in signs at the forest, that the nudists are welcome so long as they wear clothes when leaving and returning to their cars.

No. Nudists do no harm

Jorrris · 06/08/2021 12:40

😲

PortMerrionCentre · 06/08/2021 12:41

And you are promoting nudity at Sherwood yourself, I had no idea it was allowed. Until now

Jorrris · 06/08/2021 12:43

Signed and shared. No problem with nudists in designated nudist areas. But not in public places where I walk with my kids. They can fuck off with this shit.

ShowerOfShite · 06/08/2021 12:44

Signed and shared. There is no end to men's arrogance and entitlement.

Iusedtobesoooomuchfun · 06/08/2021 12:46

Did he walk out of the Bush wanking and continue to wank while confronting your wife? What happened?

I hope she laughed at him.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/08/2021 12:46

That's not nudity per se - that's assault. Disgusting. And can't believe a poster has defended it.

Geamhradh · 06/08/2021 12:47

Are you the husband of the woman then?
Or did you copy and paste from the Telegraph?

Me neither. Amazing the people that lurk on here defending this shitty behaviour.
didihearthatright123456 · 06/08/2021 12:54

I’m local to this area and can confirm that I have friends who run/cycle this area are regularly confronted with these nudists.

If you read the many articles in all the national papers yesterday about it, there is apparently a designated area for naturists in a specific area. The RSPB and NCC have already said they can't and won't stop this. What did the police say OP when you reported the pervert on the 15th July?

I haven’t defended anyone wanking. Obviously not acceptable whether the man was wearing clothes or not. I am defending nudists who are in a permitted area for nudists
Geamhradh · 06/08/2021 12:58

I'm also local, and know that certain areas of SF have been known for years for dogging etc but hadn't, I confess, heard about the naturists.
I'm not trying at all to defend any pervs, and frankly IMO naturists should absolutely stay well within their own "area" but it could well be that common or garden pervs are starting to hang out (no pun intended) around there knowing they'll get the naturist group blamed rather than the fact they're just sick fucks.

Yep. That's why there's a petition right.

Because of this:

scores of naked people were regularly seen wandering far from secluded Budby South Forest into busier tourist areas

That's not ok.

comebacksunshines · 06/08/2021 13:00

Can you not speak to the actual nudist community about this, I am sure if this individual is connected to them they don't want their club brought into disrepute.
Also, contact a local MP. Not sure of the legalities and if you need a permit to set up such a club, but surely they don't just get to walk around outside the area without a licence ?
Nudism isn't my thing, but if they are otherwise doing no harm I would let them get on with it, but with a few rules from the people that are that are having to share that space.

Calm down. This isn't aibu.

Shocking that people accept this as an "activity" when the op has clearly stated how insidious it was.

Of course what happened to the OP's wife isn't OK. And presumably the police are involved regarding that one incident.

From reading the press it seems it's not a club per se, just a designated area that they can use "as long as they are clothed getting to that area"

I'd have thought the police (following the incident the OP has reported) would be taking action. What have they said OP?

Jorrris · 06/08/2021 13:12

Scores of people (mainly men) wandering around in busy public areas is not one incident. You may be ok with that. I'm not. Most people are not.

Neither am I. The OP has reported that their wife was flashed at. That's the one incident I'm talking about.
MsMiaWallace · 06/08/2021 13:17

It's mostly gay doggers.
A majority of which are married.

Orf1abc · 06/08/2021 13:20

You're conflating two very different things, naturism and indecent exposure. Naturism is not sexual in nature, I have no issue with it. Indecent exposure is a criminal issue and the police need to address it. Are there any cameras in the area? Pretty sure there will be at the car park and visitor centre, so that would be a starting point.

Geamhradh · 06/08/2021 13:23

@Jorrris

Apologies, further news articles suggest the OP's wife also came across a group of "up to 12" male nudists when she was jogging in the area. This seems to be prior to the perv in the bushes when she was on her bike. Budby Moor seems to be part of the area where (according to the SF website) you may meet nudists.

So two incidents involving the OP's wife. I imagine, unless the group were outside the boundary of the Budby forest area on the map, the police wouldn't be interested in that incident (or if sympathetic there'd still be little legally to be done) but the second one was clearly an offence.

I repeat, the last thing I want to come across when walking with my children is a group of naked men. But within the designated area it's not illegal.

Rocaille · 06/08/2021 13:30

I've signed this. We've a similar problem in a nature reserve near where I live: men wandering around naked, having sex and leaving used condoms all over the place. Children can't play safely and women are deterred from using the area, but the police do nothing except trumpet how woke they are on LGBT issues.
