Petitioning the UK government to extend maternity leave for three months to ensure mother's have the time necessary to find childcare and promote baby's socialisation skills after lockdown is lifted

If you were due to return to work around now why wouldn’t you have already found childcare? I go back in June and have had it arranged since October!

Why is this necessary? I genuinely do not understand why a woman would need an additional 3 months of maternity leave, as above if they are returning to work then childcare would already have been put in place, as for “socialisation”, that’s really not a thing for young babies.

Also, babies less than a year old do not need socialisation with anyone other than their family. They are completely fine in lockdown.

What a fantastic idea! Let's put MORE pressure on struggling businesses so mothers can spend more time 'bonding and social engaging with other patents and babies through baby groups which are vital for development and now everything has been cancelled'.
