I am in serious Campaigning Action against Community carer's current LOW PAY as compared to a Supermarket check-out person or a cleaner.
We are trained for the following:
Health & Safety, First Aid, Clinical Skills, Administration of Medication, Moving & Handling with all equipment required /and procured by Occupational Health Specialists, Fire Prevention (in person's home), Dementia Care, End Of Life training. Use of 4 X 4's vehicles in adverse weather conditions. Lifting of people who have fallen by use of specialised equipment. Contacting of other agencies where and when appropriate IE District Nurses, GP, Occupational Health, Social Workers, Deep Cleaning of households where there may be a couple who keep Dogs in cages, I could go on....
All this job involved activities for the same PAY RATE AS A SUPERMARKET CHECKOUT OR CLEANER!!
There must be thousands of Care Workers who may visit your Mum's Net Site who you can organise with, in order to redress this issue.
It is a serious issue, because there are fewer and fewer prospective people willing to undertake this JOB ROLE. It is probably the most important to all of us as and when this back up SERVICE is needed.
I, so hope, that you will, take up this campaign and forward it for the sake of us all, not just the employees of this servile, but for the recipients, which we are all of us.
