Caroldecker - it shouldn't be about Brexit, I agree.

I think the risk is that Brexit could make the UK, and Theresa May in particular, so desperate for a trade deal, that it is afraid to call out Donald Trump.

Trump and Brexit are faces of the same movement, same aims, same tactics, same targets, same iies. Shouldn't be hidden away in this topic, yes, but the pretend there is no link is laughable

I don't have a problem with Trump visiting the UK. To think otherwise would mean I'm no better than him.

What I do fucking mind is his bitches thinking they can demand who and how the Royal Family greet him. Can't handle having an intelligent conversation with Prince Charles about climate change? Then keep your yellow-belly spineless arse the right side of the Atlantic.

I also mind our Prime Minister so blatantly sucking up to him because she's afraid he's her only hope of a decent trade deal. Have some bloody pride woman!.

I sincerely hope the Foreign Office don't wheel pimp out the Cambridges for this tantruming arsehole.

And can we have this thread moved please?

She got assurances on NATO, pretty big issue at the moment, Trumps apparent dismissal of it - have sent smaller EU countries into tail spin....she got public support - " Mr Trump I think you said " - Looking at him, "You are 100% behind Nato".

Spineless weak silly woman, she should have just refused to meet him shouldn't she. Tut Tut. Instead of eliciting out of him, support for Nato on public platform. Confused

Yes, I concede. That was well played. The hand-holding, the letting him call her by her first name and the reufusal this weekend to condemn the 'immigration' bans - not so well played.

Nothing to do with EU - I don't give a fuck what farage thinks, different people voting for completely different things.

Brexit and Trump are intrinsically linked - both part of the same populist movement championed by the gutter press and billed as "The people vs the elite".

Ghost Bollocks.
Brexit is a sensible decision to move away from a white sclerotic western protectionist trading block and re-enagage with the rest of the world in a positive fashion, helping lift many from poverty.
Trump is voting for a white sclerotic western protectionist trading block (of one country).
Brexit is leaving the united states of Europe and entering the world.
Trump is leaving the world and entering the united states of america.
They are polar opposites.
Brexit is for people with open minds who genuinely want to engage with the world.
Trump is for the scared who want to isolate themselves from the world and shut out the poor.

helping lift many from poverty.

how is more globalisation/neo liberalism going to lift people out of poverty? When did the Tories ever do anything for the poor?

Brexit is leaving the united states of Europe and entering the world.

Entering the world by closing the borders?

Brexit is for people with open minds who genuinely want to engage with the world.

EU citizens used as bargaining chips. Very open minded. Hmm

Engaging with the world as long as it isn't our nearest neighbours. Very joined up thinking. Hmm

And did you protest against the Chinese State visit? Or any of the other regimes we trade and deal with who have appalling Women's rights? You are just jumping on the latest trendy leftie bandwagon.

Ghost We will happily open up to our nearest neighbours, trade freely, visa free travel, no non-trade barriers etc. However, it is for them to agree to our overtures, we cannot dictate.
