there are move afoot to close our A&E in Huddersfield , the nearest then being Halifax which is already greatly over stretched. The route to Halifax is on frequently gridlocked road.
Huddersfield has student population of over 20,000 , two large chemical plants , a population double that of Halifax and is the designated A&E for accidents on the M62 of which there are many. Halifax has a huge PFI debt! If they are prepared to close Hudds A&E you'd isn't safe either so please insider signing. Every town needs an emergency service.

nowhere near you but also under threat of being an hour from a doubly-overstretched A and E. With an MP who has stated he is 'not fussed'.

Huddersfield A&E has been invaluable to us in the past and it's crazy that they're trying to close it. Dewsbury A&E is due to close in September I believe and the reason they got that through is because Huddersfield has an A&E, so this is just brilliant logic

Early last week both Huddersfield and Halifax A&E's were full and closed to new emergencies who had to be sent to Keighley - almost 26 miles away. Goodness knows how often this would happen if we were reduced to just Calderdale for an A&E!
