There is already a mechanism for removing unpopular governments. It's called a general election, I believe.

I have to confess to having a very hypocritical night. I signed this petition and then just realised I'd bought a book which was recommended on another thread. BY. HIS. WIFE

an election can only remove a candidate. it needs someone decent to stand against him to make sure he isn't elected a la Michael Portillo (those of us old enough to remember this remember it sent shock waves but he was deeply unpopular too)

He can't be removed as an MP as he has been democratically elected. He can be removed from the cabinet though.
