Ben Needham goverment e-petition

Hi Can I ask you all to support the goverment e-petition for Ben Needhams case to get the same UK police support as the Madeline McCann case.

I just can't imagine how you would cope if you child suddenly disappears.
I am aware there are possibly others my heart goes out to them too.

It does make you wonder how the Government ought to address the matter of missing people. Ben Needham, just like Maddie, was high profile. But how many thousands of other similar cases are there, children who are abducted and are never again reunited with their family, get no further help.

Could there be Govt funds ear-marked so that others like Maddie and Ben's family could apply for some assistance.

Not saying there is necessarily an easy answer, just makes me think.....

I've signed, and although I don't thing spelling and grammar should make any difference, I'm not sure I agree entirely with the way it's worded.

I think the case should be reopened on its own merits if there is still valuable work that could be done, not just because money has been spent on a completely separate case. I don't think there was any need to mention Madeleine in the petition, her case is irrelevant to this one.

Signed and, amazingly, not the least detered by the minor errors in presentation. I am repulsed by Cameron playing politics with the McCann case while effectively ignoring Kerry Needham, but not the least surprised. He's such a man of the people.

Thanks for highlighting this petition, Cat, I thought about Ben Needham this morning when the new investigation into Madeleine McCann was all over the news. daisychain also has a point - I'm sure there are others we don't even know to be cross about! I agree with Broken, too - it should be about new evidence/review of the case showing things still to be done, not just blanket 'money for all'.

Agree with Nancy tbh- if I see something with spelling and grammar mistakes I'll often wonder if it's "legit", simply because of Facebook. You see so many "copycat" groups and stuff on there (often badly presented), and for something like this I want to be adding my name to the official, family supported campaign, the one that might get the numbers and make some impact. Haven't looked at the link so can't comment on this one, but will be signing regardless tomorrow when I'm on a pc.

My heart goes out to Kerry Needham, it must be unbearable to have so many comparisons drawn between the MMcC case and her son's. I hope she gets some answers.

Signed - I hope that the case is re-opened and that Ben's mother can somehow get closure.

While it must be devastating for Ben's family that their case was never as high profile as MM (although it was a different time without the proliferation of the internet and 24 hour rolling news) and that it certainly should be re-opened, I think that people need to remember that the search for Ben Needham is not a search for a missing child - if he is still alive it is a search for a 24 year old man which is why it will not get the same attention or resources that the search for MM will given that she is still a child.
