That's all folks. I thank you.

& a topic is a collection of threads with a similar theme......or is that a board or something else?

gaelicsheep · 22/01/2010 21:20

We have topics on here don't we? Glad someone else pays attention to this stuff (or are you just humouring me?)

Katymac · 22/01/2010 21:22

Oh no - I agree totally & I get just as about it

And another amen from me. Have been genuinely baffled a couple of times by people using "post" when they meant "thread" recently; makes it hard to understand what they're referring to.

lou031205 · 22/01/2010 21:30

I would argue that a 'thread' is a discussion - the subject can change throughout the course of the thread depending on the content of the 'posts'.

gaelicsheep · 22/01/2010 21:38

Yes, that's the word that was escaping me - a discussion, thank you! I suppose the thread title is the subject in that case.

OP posts:
lou031205 · 22/01/2010 21:44

Being truly pedantic, I would say that a thread title is merely a proposed subject

BoysAreLikeDogs · 22/01/2010 21:47

arf at renumeration

mawbroon · 22/01/2010 21:51

Seeing this is in pedant's corner....

Isn't that word reMUNeration??

BoysAreLikeDogs · 22/01/2010 21:52

yy maw, that's what I was arfing at

mawbroon · 22/01/2010 21:54

Ah

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 22/01/2010 21:56

but an OP is not only the start of the thread (or discussion) it is a post as well

TrillianAstra · 22/01/2010 21:59

A thread is a collection of posts, in theory on one subject but in reality...

gaelicsheep · 22/01/2010 21:59

Or indeed the opening poster! I often use it with that meaning.

I thought picking up on remuneration would be, well, too pedantic. I see not!

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 22/01/2010 22:00

on one subject............what board are you posting on TA

TrillianAstra · 22/01/2010 22:06

Hi ALFA, good use of "Pedants'" there

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 22/01/2010 22:13
gaelicsheep · 22/01/2010 22:15

I was just thinking the same thing ALFA!

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 22/01/2010 22:43

That's why I said in theory. A collection of posts joined only by the ramblings in the minds of the posters...
