Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

It must be a common error because a Google search for 'tempest fugit' invokes the "Did you mean..." alternative search option.

I also know someone who says 'architectural' for 'archetypical' ...

I rather like tempest fugit.

I like tempest fugit too. I might even use it .

I heard on the radio "one foul swoop" which I quite like too. Or come to think of it perhaps they meant "one fowl swoop".
