Just get out your tippex!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 19/03/2009 21:27

What's J&K?

MargaretMountford · 19/03/2009 21:28

I'd guess they were the blocks in the university, in alphabetical order

thumbwitch · 19/03/2009 21:28

oh dear - the grocers' apostrophe - is it a fairly new university?

Dear Dean
If you wish your University to keep its English department open, I suggest you get someone to change this notice, as anyone from the QAA who sees it will be most unimpressed with the lack of literacy on site.

That help?

twoluvlykids · 19/03/2009 21:29

Just print off the comments which are sure to come pouring onto this thread, and slap down in front of him, or the head of English.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 19/03/2009 21:30

Oh I see. Like in Halls.

MargotBeauregardesGavel · 19/03/2009 21:31

I'd like to reassure you that a janitor is responsible for that sign, but I can't.

I'm always reading posts on mn from teachers (or alleged teachers) and they are peppered with mistakes.

I think only uptight minnies spell and punctuate well these days. The rest of society says "punctuation stifles my creativity and the flow of my genius man".

theyoungvisiter · 19/03/2009 21:32

get a large red marker pen and indulge in a spot of graffiti - I suggest circling the offending apostrophe and writing "OH DEAR, MUST TRY HARDER" in big red letters on the sign.*

Please note this advice is for comedic purposes only as neither Mumsnet nor theyoungvisiter advocates criminal damage.

thumbwitch · 19/03/2009 21:34

Better still, take a photo of the offending sign, photoshop what theyoungvisiter said onto the photo and then post copies of it all around the Dean's and other administrative types' offices.

theyoungvisiter · 19/03/2009 21:35

Margot, don't you mean

"punchua puntuatio punctiat all that stuff stifles my creativity and the flow of my jean gien genious man".

theyoungvisiter · 19/03/2009 21:35

Margot, don't you mean

"punchua puntuatio punctiat all that stuff stifles my creativity and the flow of my jean gien genious? man".

theyoungvisiter · 19/03/2009 21:36

NotPlayingAnyMore · 19/03/2009 22:01

thumbwitch - "oh dear - the grocers' apostrophe - is it a fairly new university?"

Eh? I've seen worse from Oxford graduates!

DSM · 19/03/2009 22:06

theyoungvisitor - PMSL!!

thumbwitch · 19/03/2009 22:09

oh graduates, yes, I grant you! But I would expect the High-Ups at Oxford etc. to keep a better eye on things, wouldn't you?

DisasterArea · 19/03/2009 22:30

so it needs pointing out to someone then? am liking the photo's photos' pictures on noticeboards idea.
