Rooves

Ok, we were playing a quiz and my mum says that the plural of roof is rooves, she is adament about this , could somebody please supply a correct reference to prove her right, she accepts it is an old fashioned way of spelling it but please prove us right

And yet, every time I catch sight of this thread title, I think, 'That looks so wrong'.

Of course everyone is right. Roofs, not rooves.

n.b. though it should always be remembered that the plural of chimney is, in fact, chimbleys. A fact that is lamentably oft forgotten.

Nobody ever gets that one right, precious.
