Pedants' corner

I am a mean, uncharitable person.

But, really...

It's "lose", dudes. It's "lose".

If I see one more thread/post about "loosing weight" or "loosing a job", I'm going to blow a blood vessel in my eye. All I can think when I read them is either, "Yeah. Get loose, babies. Shake it on down. Get jiggy with it", or, "Loosen the bonds. Release the hounds."

Help me, pedants. I know I shouldn't care. It's an internet forum, not a spelling contest...

Clearly I do not have enough in life to worry about.

Sigh.

apologies to all

it was "ghotti" wasn't it? the "gh" in enough is an "f" and I forget the rest!

ShrinkingViolet · 18/12/2008 11:59

ghoti - gh as in enough, o as in women, ti as in motion

Ah, but Panta, I felt I needed to post it here in order to hide... Was frightened of 'don't be such a snobby b*h' backlash. [coward] So figured if I stashed it here, I could get it off my chest, but avoid retribution.

Kudos to you for your pedantry, however.

"Getting" or "giving"?
