Why do some people not give their "proper" email addresses but write them like this ...

(for example):
freda bloggs at serviceprovider dot com
and not:
[email protected]?

and also, some sites (e.g. Friends Reunited) block trad email addresses in notes so you cough up and pay their registration fee.
