Why do some people not give their "proper" email addresses but write them like this ...

freda bloggs at serviceprovider dot com
and not:
[email protected]?

cos spammers get your address by scanning the web fir @ signs

freda bloggs at service provider dot com would surely translate as [email protected] and not [email protected]

and also, some sites (e.g. Friends Reunited) block trad email addresses in notes so you cough up and pay their registration fee.
