How lovely that you can spell without difficulty and have no problems with dyslexia. Good for you.

That’s a shocker.

this, it may not be grammatically correct but phonetically makes sense!

This is Pedants Corner. I think you don't understand the nature of the board.

I think I would prefer "I don't think you understand the nature of the board"

But I'm open to argument...

Both mean the same. Neither is wrong.

This is Pedants' Corner.
The one small corner of MN where people are allowed to comment on SPAG.

If you are dyslexic, and it offends you, then maybe you should hide this particular board.
Or even if you're not dyslexic (and not everyone who makes these mistakes is dyslexic by any means) but find SPAG being discussed annoying, hiding it could still be a good idea.

Confused Only if you pronounce the word incorrectly.

Quite.
When I say "inercent" I sound like I'm putting on a SW accent.

So many topics for discussion opening up here!

Do they both mean the same?

What does 'wrong' mean?

And I didn't claim one was wrong; I just said that I preferred an alternative version because, to me, it sounds less awkward. Just a personal preference

Emptyandsad

Do they both mean the same?

Imo, yes. Which you prefer is a matter of writing style.

What does 'wrong' mean?

I'm sure @BradMcStravickSnoggedMe will correct me if I've misunderstood them, but, in this case, I think "wrong" would mean using incorrect SPAG or giving a different meaning in each wording. I accept there are many interpretations though.

Maybe. I don’t think I'll join in but I'm sure some people will thoroughly enjoy them.

Eta I probably should mention that I have dyslexic traits too. I appreciate that's nothing like full dyslexia, but one is that I struggle with spelling. I've had to work at it but I still have to check the spelling of quite a few words.
However, I appreciate good SPAG and am prepared to work a bit harder to maintain it in my writing to the best of my abilities.

Using Pedants corner is fine.

starting a thread in it specially about an particular identified thread/poster - dick move, or unkind if you prefer. TAAT also.

ps I used to love pedants corner but lost cognitive function. As no doubt you can tell. Now I think some of my behaviour tipped from rhetorical interesting discussion into judgemental knob.

just saying!

And that is the problem with overdependence on phonics and not enough reading.

The misspelling I quoted is not from Mumsnet.
