I don't profess to be a pedant so it may be perfectly fine but.....

....above the sets of toiletries etc is a sign saying "Gifting"

Why not just "Gifts" ?

Urgh, bleurgh thats sooo American!

My dh will flip his lid. He sees the Americanisation of our language as an indicator of moral decline.

I had to laugh in an M&S cafe recently.

There were small tables for 2 all along a long wall, about 10 in all. Above each one on the wall was a notice saying 'Would customers please make their purchase before occupying a seat'.

At each table sat a single OAP waiting for their other half to bring their coffee!
