This is something I was itching to correct on another thread.

”as a pose to me who is going to get…”

It is the first time I’ve seen this so thought fellow PC enthusiasts would enjoy.

sigh…

Ohh I’m itching all over !

Dovesono · 12/09/2026 00:15

Do people not read at all these days?

I'm fed up of seeing "worse" when people mean "worst". More often than not it's spelt wrongly.

Draws instead of drawers....

JudyTeeny · 12/09/2026 16:14

Oh my goodness, that's hilarious! Second only to my favourite, "but give her a Jew".

BabblingBiddy · 12/09/2026 16:18

Ive seen apposed a lot recently when they mean opposed.

ODFOx · 12/09/2026 16:53

An acquaintance recently quoted Shakespeare to me, while speaking about going home for a nap: ‘To sleep a chance to dream’. I had no response to offer. I just waved.

Your fellow pedants were already on the case!

Wow, that is quite special. Was this written down?

Yes, it was in an email from a friend. She was annoyed at something a relative had done. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Gosh. Did you tell her?

I chickened out.

Mmhmmn · 12/09/2026 23:29

What pacifically annoyed you about it?

🤭
sorry
😇🤣

Mmhmmn · 12/09/2026 23:31

please use the phrase properly in a message back to her as soon as possible. And hope she picks up on it. My teeth are itching.

I'm not sure I know what they were intending with this one 🔺?!

'a pose' - presumably it was a typo as 'a pose' (gosh it's bad!) to being intentional?

... however, having written it out, I now note that 'a' and 'o' are on opposing ends of the keyboard...

It should have been give her her due.

GreenShady · 13/09/2026 10:10

As a teenager I used to say ‘as a pose to’ until my mum corrected me!

I was an avid reader too, so I don’t know how that one slipped through the net.
