Suggest a collective noun for celebrities

The Grauniad today talks about a 'clutch' of celebs watching Wimbledon (of which I only recognised two names, but whatever...). 'Clutch', to me, evokes a picture of a nest with eggs in it. Google suggests 'cast' or 'fame', but neither of those seems right here. Surely we can come up with something better?

I'd definitely call them a vanity.

LindorDoubleChoc · 11/07/2026 18:21

An inanity of celebrities.
An irrelevance of celebrities.
A chasm of celebrities.
A tedium of celebrities.
A black hole of celebrities.

A collection
A pride
A gaggle
A pose
A vanity

Actually I like “a vanity of celebrities”

Yes, a vanity or a pose. Both very descriptive!

I once saw Victoria Beckham (with David) in London being photographed outside a film premiere. While he was just standing there, she was preening and posing ( and pouting!) this way and that, so those would be v. appropriate.

The Stage once held a sort of competition to find a collective noun for actors. The winner was "A whinge" which still makes me smile.

It doesn’t quite fit but

a surplus of celebrities…

A glut of celebrities

An infestation of celebrities

TheQuickPlumPoet · 12/07/2026 15:05

I was going to suggest ‘a conceit of celebrities’ but I’ve just checked and this is already in use for ‘a conceit of urials’

“Urials (also known as a shapo or arkhar) are a type of wild sheep with large, curling horns found in the mountainous regions of Central and South Asia.”

Thinking about it, sheep and celebs do seem to have a few similarities…
