Hay Festival should be better

Reading the website for the Festival one attraction is:
Hear from the women who’ve summited Everest
Summited?
Ye Gods!*#!
I would be impressed by women who had climbed Everest. It is a web site space for proper words is not short.
What would you prefer they said?

Climbed to the summit of, I think.

Summited, gifted, the steady encroachment of weird words and phrases.

To climb could just be to base camp or a little further. While it’s not my favourite word summited is in common use in mountaineer’s parlance.

I think it's the distinction between climbing (for example to one of the base camps) and having claimed the peak - hence summited. I don't like the word much either but I can see why they used it. Also you typed web site - instead of website - was that a typo?!
