When did it become Iv?

The minute I type Iv I noticed I've comes up so it must do on others' phones too. Do people really not recognise Iv is not right? The English language is being wrecked.

It doesn't on my phone.

Many people seem not to look back at anything they’ve typed. So they have no opportunity to notice their errors (assuming they care). @cocksstrideintheevening it does on mine.

I get IV when I type the 2 letters, so presumably predictive text thinks I want to talk fertility or drips.

VisionsOfSplendour · 09/10/2023 15:04

I've never seen that

KateMiddletonsExtensions · 09/10/2023 23:27

I've just seen it in a post. I read a few more by the person who wrote it. She writes I'm but can't write I've, it's Iv. Also misuses your when they mean you're and writes would of. Calls people bab and huni too.

I'm a total pedant when it comes to punctuation, spelling etc even in text messages so I know where you're coming from. The person you're referencing doesn't seem to have basic grammar skills so the fact that she has managed 1 contraction correctly is a fluke

dizzzydeee · 09/10/2023 23:47

Also the use of bab' and huns' in a sentence is so odd

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 09/10/2023 23:51

I've

Mine just autocorrected it to I've

Agree on IV drips though.. technically IV is a word, the phone just doesn't know the context.

NatashaDancing · 09/10/2023 23:54

If I type "iv" the phone gives me the option of I've or IV.
