I much prefer people saying jewllry to the very over pronounced jew-ell-ery!

PlatinumBrunette · 21/07/2022 10:55

Ugh. What makes me shout is when they say seckertry (it hurts to write that!)

RollerPolarBear · 21/07/2022 10:57

Is this not just down to regional pronunciation?

YouCrazyDiamond · 21/07/2022 11:10

It's jewelry in the US, maybe that's had an impact on pronunciation here.

Although as someone who makes and sells it, I don't care how someone pronounces it as long as someone is buying 😀

Or even worse 'joolery'!

waltzingparrot · 21/07/2022 12:05

Eugh, the Beeb has gone right down in pronunciation in the last few years. Bring back RP!

There’s pedantry and then just pure snobbery…

JustTwoNights · 21/07/2022 12:09

At least it wasn't vegetables with four syllables or belongings with the middle g pronounced😂

Ifailed · 21/07/2022 12:10

Just call it Tom, like any decent cockney.

Jesus. 🤯

Sounds like a normal regional variation to me, surely we've moved on from the days of judging that.
