When people say you have two choices

This really annoys me. Surely it should be you have two options. You only have one choice Hmm. I hear it being said all the time.

Example: "You have two choices; you can either stay in the relationship and hope it gets better, or end it now and live with the consequences". To me, that is one choice- stay or go, and by making that choice, you are choosing one of the options.

Am I wrong? Everyone seems to say it!

You're not wrong.

It's not one that particularly annoys me, though. Not sure why, as I do tend to be disproportionately grumpy about things like that.

Thanks moahcoocumbahs. I do agree there are definitely worse cases of grammatical carnage out there, but once you become aware of this one you'll start noticing it in every film, TV programme, and sometimes even in books whenever there's a decision to be made. And you'll look around the room as everyone else stares blankly at the TV and wonder what's going on 😜😂😂
