I don't like verbs with a 't' on the end

I always write 'spelled' and 'dreamed' instead of the alternative because the alternative makes me feel funny.

Why is that? And which is more correct (I have a feeling it's the t version)?

The 't' is the standard English. The other is American.

Both are perfectly correct English! As long as you're consistent, it doesn't matter which you use.
