Driving me mad, it is everywhere. The plural of to be will soon be no more.

Bit of an over-reaction - do you seriously expect to start hearing people on the radio or TV saying "the teachers is doing a good job", or someone on the street (outside of some dialects) saying "the clouds is starting to clear"?

"how's you" is surely just a matey bit of jocularity, similar to someone saying to Fred, "how's Fred?"
