I do not want to "shop latest offers", "shop women's clothing", "shop stocking fillers", I want to BUY things.

As you were.

Ah, but shopping is browsing. Buying is purchasing. Maybe they don't want you to spend money Wink ?

NoComet · 10/12/2013 23:01

No it's not just you it's a horrible phrase.

Why can't we just have a droop down menu saying Women, Men, Children

and not M&S Kids, annoys me every time, you're not Primark

NoComet · 10/12/2013 23:02

drop

Is it okay to shop for things?

But yes, if I shop someone, I'm reporting them to the authorities.

Haha, if there's one way to put me off spending money, this is it Grin

I first noticed it a couple of months ago and now they're all at it.

I think it's coming from the "trouser" school of Fashion English.

So it's 'shop for' then, isn't it? They're just lazy buggers but I expect they think it sounds American & therefore cool. It doesn't, it just sounds unfinished. As you say, it's like pant/trouser. It's pair of. pants/trousers. Two of them. who wants just one?
