Aaaaaaaaaah! Surely it's shouldn't have, wouldn't have etc. Please tell me I'm right to be seriously wound up by seeing this?

Yes, it should be:

SHouldn't HAVE done it.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE it when people (including my 3 and 4 year olds!) use 'of' instead of have. I get lots of Hmm looks when I correct my (just turned) 3 year old when she uses it incorrectly! :o

Recently been teaching apostrophes to some yr 8s in 1-1 sessions. The way I let them know about it (and, hopefully remember it) was to talk them through would've, could've, should've.

Not done enough in class, IMO. I always try to, though. I used to try to have one lesson a week set by purely for grammar, but the timetable didn't always allow.Angry

drives me absolutely mad too, and I am ashamed to admit that I correct people who do it!
