For some reason as yet unidentified, my eldest was cross with me last night.

He wrote me a note.

"your mean mum"

Did I sit him down, try to find out what was wrong? erm no.

I said

"Did you mean you are mean, mum? Because that's y-o-u apostrophe r-e and a comma after mean."

Anyone done similar?

Oh I bet that pleased him and made for a sensible, mature, 2-way conversation

Or maybe he was looking into the family traits and saying that your mum was mean, but you are absolutely lovely and nothing like that.

Oh yes, he was thrilled.

He gave me a disgusted look and walked off.

Well, I am sure the next note I get will be grammatically correct.
