If you have space you can play beans - just a running around game with no winners. You have runner beans (running), string beans (stretching up tall), jumping beans (jumping) and I'm sure there are others. Pirates is a similar game with port, starboard, bow and stern (four corners) and climbing the rigging etc.

And how about Simon Says?

woodlandfaerie · 02/07/2010 19:21

oh no space really. any space will be taken up with 8 children!

Dancing competition - easiest thing ever

Could you please tell me the rules of these party games?

I know sleeping lions and pass the parcel but don´t know the other games.
I am not completely stupid but I live in other country and would like to take this for inspiration for my 5yo twins´ bday party.
Thank you a lot.

Err .. can anyone help me with the rules for Sleeping Lions? I don't remember playing it as a child and it sounds like just the thing to have in my armoury as a complete novice pre-school party thrower.

It's easy. All children have to lie down, pretend to be asleep and stay as still as possible. Grown up walks around and taps any child who they see moving on the shoulder and they get up/are out. Last child 'sleeping' wins.

At DD's drama class this is their wind down activity and they play slightly differently, kids who are doing really well get a sticker on their hand (I think) and sometimes there's no ultimate winner - where did good old fashioned competition go?
