2nd Birthday party The Kids Place, Canvey Island

Hi all, I'm trying to organise a small birthday party 2yr old and should have about 10 friends from nursery.

I've heard about The Kids Place Canvey Island (www.thekidsplace.co.uk) and wonder is any of you has been there and what you think about this venue? The other option I have is Te Partyman World.

THe Kids place seems a bit more homely and cosy but I might be wrong. I will go and have a look at both but it's a bit of a journey for me so wanted to get an idea of what it's like before I embark on the journey.

Thanks,

Hello Ibeji,
Where abouts are you from
I had our ds1 3rd birthday there party there and although as you say it is homely the play equipment was a little dirty. There was also a firemans pole that my son fell down (about 7ft).I havent been back there apart from other peoples partys.
I have been to Partyman world which i think was much better suited to slightly older childern.
I would recommend Cheeky monkey on Canvey for parties as they have a brilliant play area which i have always found clean. They also have a smaller play area for the younger kids.Lots of my friends have had their kids partys there and they do all the food, invites, cake and party bags etc.You can also private hire it as well and do your own buffet if that suits better.
HTH.

Hi thanks a lot for the feedback, that's the sort of think I want to hear (constructive info from people who've been). One thing that put me off slightly was, when I was looking at the gallery, it seems that the eating area is in the kithen and that worried me a bit because it looked a bit odd but I hadn't been there so wasn't sure.

I live in Thurrock but am planning to visit The Kids place, so I'll just go to Cheeky Monkey.

I have absolutely no reason for going to Canvey Island except that I saw it in a list of soft play areas. I've got PartyMan (Lakeside) on my list but I'm not yet convinced so a still looking around.

I also called Small Monstres (Stanford le Hope) but they're full up for the day I require. Thanks for the link.

Thanks a lot for your useful response.

Kids place food area is in the cafe. Its ok but can get very cramped.Especially with all the parents.
But in its favour only have the party kids in the building so its not over run with other kids.
If it were a toss up between Kids place and Cheeky monkeys i would def go to Cheeky monkeys.
Hope you get it sorted.:-)

Thanks very much, very helpul. I went to the Cheeky Monkeys website you sent me and looks good. I'm going to see both venues next week. Have you been to PartyMan World (Lakeside)? If so, how does it compare?

Thanks so much.

Hi again, I've been to both and I like the Cheeky Monkeys play area. I hope that the other parts are tidies up when there's a party on. Now, my main concern is that I understand it's very dirty. Is this true. I must admit that I rushed in and out (silly) and didn't ask to see the toilets and other places. I found this link, do you have any comments or advice:

I have been there when the toiets have been just cleaned and a few times i have noticed there wasnt loo roll in very cubicle but on the whole i would say it is clean. If there were any problems im sure the staff would sort it out as they are friendly.
I havent been to the Lakeside Partyman world but have been to the Basildon one which is HUGE!
I would say that the CM's were aimed more towards the younger end of the soft play market (aged 1- 9) and PMW at the older end as there seems to be more to do for the older child.
Probably best to have a look like you said oh and the kids meals are served in a party box. They can choose from hotdog, burger, or chicken nuggets all served with chips. Then they get an ice cream after.
HTH.

Thanks for your help. It's fine for us to use and I see what you mean about it being better than the other one. You've been a great help.
